REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOKYO -- The season's eighth typhoon Neoguri made landfall near Akune city in Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan's southwest Kyushu area early Thursday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The agency warned heavy rain would sweep Shikoku Island due to unstable air that would affect a wide area from western to northern Japan.
It has also warned of further landslides, while evacuation orders were issued to residents in Miyazaki, Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures in the Kyushu region.
According to local report, a 12-year-old boy died in Nagano Prefecture Wednesday due to landslide and a senior man reportedly dead after falling into a swollen river in Fukushima Prefecture which was hit by heavy rain.
