KPU appeal all parties to respect the presidential election results

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Chairman of General Election Commission (KPU), Husni Kamil Malik asked all parties to respect the official result of presidential election to be announced on July 22, 2014. He expected both presidential candidates to maintain security as the vote counting proceed.

"We hope all parties to respect vote counting," Malik said on Thursday.

Malik said that peaceful atmosphere during the election process showed the Indonesia's maturation process in embracing democracy.

"We must maintain security until  the national vote counting process is completed," he said.

Board of KPU carried out calculation on Thursday started at village level for three days until Saturday. The vote counting at provincial level will be held on July 18-19, while the final on July 20-22.
