REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURWOKERTO -- About 40 drivers of intercity and inter-province buses at Bulupitu bus terminal in Purwokerto, Central Java, underwent urine test on Thursday.
"Organized by Banyumas district's Department of Transportation, Communication and Informatics (Dinhubkominfo), the urine test is intended to ensure that the bus drivers are free from alcohol and drugs," Dinhubkominfo Chief of Safety and Order Division R Hermawan said.
He noted that the tests had revealed that all drivers were free from alcohol and drugs.
He remarked that after the tests the drivers were allowed to drive to their respective destinations.
"In addition to the urine test, we will also conduct intensive raids to provide safety and comfort to the bus passengers during the Lebaran mass exodus," he added.
