REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said that he would submit resignation letter as governor after Eid al-Fitr. It follows after General Election Commission (KPU) announced that Jokowi was Indonesia's president-elect and Jusuf Kala as vice president-elect.
"The letter will be submitted after Eid al Fitr in August 2014," Jokowi said recently in Jakarta.
When he returned to his office at City Hall, Jokowi said that he followed the latest issues occured in Jakarta and surrounding areas during his the leave period.
"I always maintain communication with my deputy (Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (known as Ahok)," Jokowi added.
KPU has completed the voting count for 2014 president and vice president in 33 provinces and abroad on Tuesday. Jokowi and JK won with 70,997,883 of votes compared to Prabowo Subianto and HattaRajasa with 62,576,444 of votes.
