REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Former chairman of Prabowo-Hatta's campaign team, Mahfud MD said that some changes occurring at the end of presidential election's campaign, referring to the wider gap of the votes gained by Prabowo's camp. The gap, initially was predicted 2 percent but then became 5 percent.
"Initially we were sure to win the race, but then some changes occurring in the last minutes," the former head of Constitutional Court said on Friday.
Yet, he declined to go into detailed about the reasons behind those unexpected situation. After General Election Commission (KPU) declared Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla as the winners of the presidential election, Mahfudz took the blame to himself for Prabowo's defeat. But he canceled his plan to withdraw from Prabowo's coalition.
Insha Allah (If God wills), I stay with Prabowo's camp," he said.
