REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Chief Justice of Constitutional Court (MK), Hamdan Zoelva, reiterated his vow to keep all judges independent in proceeding presidential election dispute.
"No party can influence us," Zoelva said recently.
Zoelva ensured that both parties (Prabowo Subianto and Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo) would be treated equally. The Court will run this case in honestly and fair way based on truth.
One of judges, Patrialis Akbar said that no one tried to influence him. Akbar who is former National Mandate Party (PAN) politician claimed that he had never received a call, including from vice presidential candidate No. 1, Hatta Rajasa who is PAN chairman.
Legal team member of Prabowo-Hatta, Didi Supriyanto said that there were 20 lawyers entered the courtroom on Wdnesday.
Prabowo and Hatta were present in this first trial. Legal team have prepared evidence and witnesses for the trial. They are 1,500 witnesses who signed up and there will be 2,000 people who will be put forward as witnesses.
Prabowo has filed a lawsuit as a move to reject the 2014 presidential election results officially announced by General Election Commission (KPU) on July 22. KPU named Jokowi as the next president with a total of 70,997,833 votes or 53.15 percent, while Prabowo gained 62,576,444 votes or 46.85 percent. Prabowo previously claimed that fraud had occurred at 52,000 polling stations and had affected 21 million votes in its initial lawsuit filed at the court on July 25.
