Indonesian football team joins group A in AFF Cup

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian football team joins group A in 2014 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) in Vietnam. In a drawing process was held in Hanoi n Tuesday, Indonesia will join with Vietnam, Philippines and runner-up of AFF Suzuki Cup 2014. All matches in group A will be held in Vietnam.

In group B, Singapore will be together with Malaysia, Thailand and the winner of qualifiers. All matches will be held in Singapore. According to official website of Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), the drawing process divided the participants into four pots. The first pot is Singapore and Vietnam, while the second pot is Malaysia, Philippines and the winner of qualifiers. The third pot is Indonesia and Thailand, while runner-up of AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 and the winner of qualifiers are in fourth pot.

The winner of qualifiers and runner-up of AFF Suzuki Cup will be  followed by Myanmar, Timor Leste, Brunei Darussalam, Laos and Cambodia. The qualification process will take place on October 12-30 in Laos. There will be only two teams to semifinal.

The format of qualifying round will use round robin competition. The top two will qualify for the main draw. The winner will be incorporated into group B, while the runner-up belonging to group A.
