Police investigate citizen involvement in ISIS

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian National Police investigated several citizens who were suspected involved in Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). It aimed to prevent development of radical organization in the country.

"The investigation has been running to finding the existence of ISIS. We just continue the investigation against those who have been recruited to Syria," Head of Public Relations and Information Division in National Police, Boy Rafli Amar said in Jakarta recently.

Police has recorded people who have been recruited for jihad to Syria. Amar aded that Police had handled several cases involving terrorism elements that handled people recruitment to Syria. It has became observation since a few months ago, although not the focus of investigation. He urged ISIS, which has spread a video invitation to join with the group to re-evaluate its ideology.

"They should not continue the establishment of organization that embrace radicalism. Those who have formed, it must be dissolved," Amar added.

Government will not allow ISIS to carry out activities in Indonesia because the ideology is different to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and other laws and regulations.
