REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI -- Police confirmed a suspected terrorist arrested in Jatiasih area in West Java's Bekasi city on Saturday night is involved in the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) movement.
"The suspect is a man. He is involved in ISIS activities in Bekasi city," chief of the Jatiasih police precinct Comsr. Imelda Sitohang said following the arrest at the Bagdad Kebab shophouse in Jatiasih sub-district early Sunday.
The suspect, identified by his initial as A, is believed to have taken part in developing ISIS ideology which had caused public unrest in Bekasi city, he said.
"A is still linked to the spread of ISIS activities in south Bekasi recently," Sitohang said.
The police are still guarding the place where the suspect has been arrested. They believed other suspects involved in the activities are still hiding there.
He said the suspect who was arrested on Saturday (Aug 9) at 10.45 p.m. local time is believed to have financed terrorist training in the westernmost Indonesian province of Aceh since 2010.
"A was arrested while he was visiting one of his friends in Jatiasih," he said.
