REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland, Djoko Susilo conveyed that alleged existence of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was inseparable from Western interest. He said that Western countries financed and facilitated ISIS.
"ISIS leader, Abu Bakar Al-Baghdadi was ever detained in the United States and he considered harmless. After released, he could be asked to play important roles in the Middle East and ISIS was very possible financed by the West," Susilo said recently.
In a press conference, many people were surprised to see a Rolex watches worn by Al-Baghdadi. According to Susilo, it could be 1.5 billion IDR. An Islamic leader will not show his assets. Hence, he assessed that ISIS existence would not uphold Islamic law, but more on pragmatic temporal interests.
"We should not be easily fooled by the appearances a camouflage covered with religious symbols like that," he said.
ISIS ideology is rejected by various parties in Indonesia. Government will not allow ISIS to carry out its activities in Indonesia because the ideology is different to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and other laws and regulations.
