REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Constitutional Court will read its decision on the presidential election dispute on Thursday Aug 21, its chairman Hamdan Zulva said.
The decision is on who will be the country's new president and vice president for the next five years.
The statement served also as an invitation for all parties involved in the disputes to be present at the court on Thursday, Hamdan Zulva said here on Monday.
"Therefore, there is no need for official summon to attend the the court to hear the decision," he said.
The losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has filed a legal case at the Constitutional Court against the General Election Commission (KPU).
KPU declared on July 22 Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla as president and vice president elect.
KPU said Jokowi as the governor is popularly known and Jusuf Kalla won the July 9 presidential election with more than 53 percent of the votes.
Prabowo and his running mate Hatta Rajasa, however, refused defeat and accused KPU of being unfair and rigging the election.
The Constitutional Court, therefore, will give the final decision on Thursday on who will be the next president and vice president of the country.
On Monday the court received evidence from all parties involved in the dispute including the team of lawyers of Jokowi as the president elect is popularly known.
Hamdan said the court had examined and verified the list of evidence consisting of thousands of pieces of documents from both sides.
