REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy of Jokowi's Transition Team, Andi Widjajanto said that the team discessed about ministerial seats in next government. Several ministerial posts will be reduced or merged from 34 ministers to 27 ministers. Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the only one ministry which will have a deputy minister.
"Ministry of Industry will be merged with Ministry of Trade," Widjajanto said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
There will be the new ministry, Ministry of Food Sovereignty, which combines agriculture, fisheries and plantations. Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and will be split into two posts. Ministry of Education and Culture will be divided into two posts, namely primary education and higher education. Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) will be merged with Ministry of Research and Technology.
According to Widjajanto, there are five options that are currently being discussed for the next cabinet. The first option is status quo, where the number of ministeries in 2014-2019 will be same as Yudhoyono's current cabinet or 34 ministries.
Second, functional approach, which will be identified functions in all ministeries. Third option is based Trisakti ideological option, while the last option will complete the five options. However, this plan will be reviewed by Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf Kalla.
