REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik will probably meet President Susilo Bambang Yudoyono either on Thursday night or Friday morning.
"He will wait for the President's summon, possibly on Thursday night or Friday morning," the Ministry's Secretary General M Teguh Pamuji told reporters at his office Thursday.
Jero Wacik was still carrying out his activities as the minister for energy and mineral resources, he said. Jero also give directives to himself, Inspector General Mochtar Husein and Director General Rida Mulyana of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Pamuji said.
"The minister remains committed to working and providing advice for us to remain passionate," Pamuji said.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), named Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik as a suspect in an extortion case where he allegedly received 9.9 billion IDR, KPK Deputy Chairman Bambang Widjojanto stated here Wednesday.
"He is believed to have misused his position as minister to extort money worth 9.9 billion IDR from various sources," noted Bambang.
Jero is believed to have ordered his staff to raise additional funds for the minister's operational costs. Jero's staff then carried out fictitious activities, which were funded by private parties, according to the anti-graft body's investigation.
"Some of the activities are fictitious," Bambang emphasized.
