REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Sharia lender, PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) continues to strengthen 'Gold Pawn and Cicil Emas' business following the prospect growth. Company will encourage both business development with its parent company, state owned Bank Mandiri.
According to Senior Executive Vice President of Retail Financing in BSM Edwin Dwidjajanto, BSM recorded a high turnover, which increased from 1.7 trillion IDR to 2.05 trillion IDR during January-June 2014, while the initial financing was only 326.08 billion IDR.
BSM gold pawn turnover recorded an increase of 16.25 percent transactions in a month. BSM 'Cicil Emas' grew 11.28 percent, from 69.13 billion IDR in January 2014 to 76.93 billion IDR in June 2014. Dwidjajanto said that BSM would focus on retail segment in developing Gold Pawn and Cicil emas business as the market share was still opened.
BSM Cicil Emas costumers have reached more than 5,000 accounts per June 2014, while Gold Pawn costumers have reached 40,000 accounts. Both business development also encourages an increase in company's fee-based income, which is the largest contributor after hajj and umrah income.
BSM has 320 gold pawn service counters scattered in various districts and cities in Indonesia. A total 35 counters collaborated with PT Pos Indonesia, Bank Mandiri (6 counters) and Bank Sinar Harapan Bali (5 counters). Company will ensure the cooperation with various financial institutions to develop gold business.
