REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono proposed special prisons for terrorism inmates. He responded the proposal of Head of National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Ansyaad Mbai when evaluated the de-radicalization of anti-terrorist agency at Peace and Security Center Indonesia in Bogor, West Java on Monday.

"It is a good idea and we need special place. We should think it later," Yudhoyono said.

BNPT Bogor has 48 prison cells for terrorism inmates, which accomodate three prisoners per cell. Penitentiary institution asked the special prison to avoid terrorist recruitment in general prisons.

According to Mbai, many head of penitentiaries expect terrorism inmates to be separated from others. There are 28 prisons placed by terrorism inmates in Indonesia.

President did not agree the placement of prisons for terrorism inmates at Peace and Security Center Indonesia, Bogor. It is because the place prepared for education and training for peace troops, which may create new vulnerabilities. President also emphasized that the special prison would not like Guantanamo in United States.

"It will definitely not like Guantanamo. We support the human rights," he added.
