REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Public Housing Minister Djan Faridz encourages developers to build low-cost rental apartments (Rusunawa) and MCK (public bathing, washing and toilet) facilities that can be used by the public.

"I hope that Rusunawa and MCK facilities which are be built will really be utilized by the correct users," Djan Faridz said in a press statement on Wednesday.

He said that Rusunawa and MCK facilities provided by the Ministry of Public Housing would really be used by people who needed appropriate houses based on regulations.

The minister said his ministry has carried out Rusunawa development program. It had implemented the program from 2010 to 2013 where 387 apartment towers had been developed.

In 2014, the Ministry of Public Housing is planning to finish the development of 413 towers of Rusunawa. Thus, total Rusunawa developed during the period of the United Indonesia Cabinet II accounted for 800 towers.

"This figure is still smaller than the number of apartments or landed houses needed by the people of Indonesia," the minister said.
