REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The fifth-largest seller of vehicles in Indonesia, Mitsubishi Motors Corp plans to boost vehicle production by building a new plant. Directorate General of High Technology-Based Industries Featured (IUBTT) in Ministry of Industry, Budi Darmadi said that Mitsubishi's second plant would be located in Bekasi, West Java.
"The automotive industry continues to increase in Indonesia," Darmadi said on Tuesday.
The investment value reaches 600 million USD. The plant will produce 160-240 thousand units per year. The volume is higher than the first plant production in Pulogadung, North Jakarta, which is only 157-165 thousand units per year.
Chairman and CEO of Mitusbishi Motor Corps, Osamu Masuko said that he had met with officials in Ministry of Industry to discuss the new plant construction. It will be completed in 2017.
"We will produce 20 thousand units for export and 60 thousand units for domestic market. The export countries are Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines," Masuko said.
