REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is on his last overseas trip before he ends his term in office on October 20, 2014. He will visit Portugal, US, and Japan.

According to a press statement received here on Thursday from Presidential Staff for Foreign Affairs, President Yudhoyono will first visit Portugal on September 18-20. The visit this year is the second ever visit by an Indonesian head of state to Portugal after the first visit of former president Soekarno in 1960.

During the stay Yudhoyono is scheduled to meet Portugal's President Cavaco Silva, Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, and Chairman of the Parliament Assuncao Esteves. Yudhoyono will also receive the golden key from Mayor of Lisabon, which reflects the trust shown by the people of Lisbon towards Indonesia.

Yudhoyono then will leave for New York, the United States, on September 20 to deliver a speech at  the United Nations' 69th General Assembly. On the sidelines of the event in New York, Yudhoyono will conduct a bilateral meeting with President of Mexico Enrique Pe'a Nieto, before departing for Washington DC to inaugurate the Indonesian Muslim Association in America (IMAAM) Center, where Indonesian Muslims congregate to conduct their religious activities. 

Finally, Yudhoyono will leave for Kyoto, Japan, on September 30, to receive the Honoris Causa title from Ritsumeikan University. The president will return to Indonesia on October 1.
