REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA - A traffic accident that occurred in the PT Freeport mine area located in Gresberg of Mimika District, Papua, on Saturday morning has claimed four lives.
Deputy Chief of Papua Regional Police Brigadier General Paulus Waterpauw said on Saturday that there were four victims who died after a truck crashed into a micro bus. Police identified several casualties, including Luther Patanggi, Simon Seba, Richardo Tomasila and Nursio.
Additionally, some of the injured listed in critical conditions are Kamarudin Poleng and Andreas Rahawarin. Others involved in the accident who were not injured included Billy Angresu, Thomas Piter Siloi and Irianto.
Paulus said the report indicated that the accident occurred in front of Surbaya Grasberg office after a 785 type hauling truck, driven by John Warisio, ran into a micro bus carrying nine persons. Police added that the victims of the crash are being treated at Tembagapura Hospital.
