REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO -- A rickshaw driver from Solo, Central Java, Masalwoto Armorodi is determined to meet President-elect Joko Widodo up close and personal by riding his rickshaw 573 kilometers to Jakarta.

Armorodi said he will leave from the Solo branch of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the President-elect's supporting party, to fulfill an oath he had made. Armorodi had vowed to meet the former Solo Mayor if he was elected as the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

As scheduled, Armorodi will arrive in Jakarta in seven to ten days before Joko Widodo is sworn in as the Indonesian President for the 2014-19 period.

Amorodi said he will leave his rickshaw in the state's palace as a souvenir and reminder that a "wong cilik" (a Javanese term for the poor and disadvantaged), who supported Joko Widodo as the Indonesian President, had met him.
