REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Chief of National Police Gen Sutarman has called on his rank and file across the country to ensure proper security arrangements for presidential inauguration on October 20, 2014.

President-elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and vice-president-elect Jusuf Kalla will be sworn in and inaugurated on October 20.

"All National Police personnel must ensure the security of the final stage of general election, when Jokowi and Kalla are being sworn in and inaugurated as president and vice-president," he said here on Thursday.

Sutarman remarked that he would soon gather all regional police chiefs across the country, and give them directives on security measures to be followed before and during the presidential inauguration.

Meanwhile, Army Chief of Staff General Gatot Nurmantyo has expressed confidence that the inauguration of Jokowi and Kalla would be well secured.

"I am convinced that as earlier presidential election, the inauguration will be secured as well," he informed newsmen at the Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta recently.

However, he affirmed that the army would undertake all anticipatory measures against any potential threat to security. Therefore, all TNI (military) members will be ordered to always remain alerted and ready. He assured that all army personnel and regional military commands would be prepared to provide their assistance whenever police need them.

"We are already prepared for it," he said, adding that the Indonesian people had demonstrated their civility, smartness and peaceful character during the implementation of recent elections.
