REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Association of Indonesian Muslim Students (KAMMI) of Yogyakarta has reminded the country's new president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) of his political pledges.
Jokowi had 66 promises to the public before the presidential election, Chairman of the Gajah Mada University branch of KAMMI Dzikri Asykarulloh said in a rally on Monday.
"Political promises are debts that have to be paid to the public. We hope the president could meet all his promises," Asykarulloh said.
He expressed his hope that Jokowi would think beyond his party's interest. Jokowi was governor of Jakarta when he was named candidate by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle to contest the July 9 presidential election.
The new president, who was installed on Monday is scheduled to announce his cabinet lined up on Tuesday. Jokowi said his cabinet would be dominated by professionals and candidates from political parties may not have executive position in the parties.
