REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo launched social security cards namely Indonesia Health Card (KIS) and Indonesia Smart Card (KIP). Those cards, believed to be more usefull than previous programs, National Health Insurance (JKN) and Poor Student Assistance (BSM), were among his promises during the electoral campaign.
Secretary of Coordinating Ministry for People's Welfare and Culture Sugihartatmo said that KIS was not only for people living below poverty line, but also for those living on poverty line. Every KIS holders will have health insurance provided by BPJS Kesehatan, with the premium only 19.225 IDR per person.
Meanwhile, KIPs were symbolically given to 24 poor students which were registered in BSM program. The amount of the cash transfer is ranging from 225.000 IDR per semester for elementary student, 375.000 IDR per semester for secondary school students and 500.000 IDR per semester for high schoolers. Those who receive KIP can cash in the money in Bank Mandiri branches and outlets.
While sitting as Jakarta Governor, Jokowi launched Jakarta Health Card (KJS). This KJS is used as a model for KIS. KJS insured 4.5 million residents with PT Askes, which now becomes BPJS Kesehatan.
