REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister for Marine and Fishery Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti plans to shut several fishing areas. The step is aimed to preserve the marine ecosystem.

"We will review several zones. We will shut it down from any fishery activities," Susi said on Monday, Nov 3.

Susi will propose the plan to carbon committee. She believes that the act will obtain money for Indonesia without sacrifying environment. "We will use the money to empower coastal economy," she said.

The eccentric minister also plans to implement moratorium for fishing vessel. She was astonished by non-tax state revenue from fishery and maritime. The amount is considered small. Tax revenue from foreign fishery vessel is only 30 million IDR per year. "That is ridiculous," she said.
