REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or known as Ahok was inaugurated as Governor of Jakarta on Wednesday, November 19.. Ahok was installed directly by President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo.

It is the first time that a governor is inaugurated by a president, due to the issuance of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No 1/2014 on inauguration of regional head.

However, Commission II at the House of Representatives will summon Minister of Interior Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo to explain the inauguration procedure of Ahok. "We understand about multiple interpretations on Ahok inauguration. Therefore, we will summon Minister Kumolo," Vice Speaker of Commission II at the parliament Ahmad Riza Patria said on Wednesday, November 19. Patria said the parliament would review the multi interpretations on Ahok's inauguration in order to obtain recommendations for the problem.

Police were guarding State Palace, a venue where ahok was swornn in. Head of Central Jakarta Police Hendro Pandowo said, the police prepared water cannon, barracuda tank and trained dogs to guard the venue. "We also place 3,600 personnels near the palace," he said.
