REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- A fixed price system will help to achieve food self-sufficiency in order to meet the nation's food demands, stated Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman.
"I am sure we can achieve self-sufficient in food," the minister made the statement to motivate and encourage the students of the Agricultural High School (STPP) on Thursday.
Sulaiman noted that food self-sufficiency was an important target for the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to be achieved despite the numerous challenges and obstacles. As the key stakeholder in achieving food self-sufficiency, the agriculture minister said he would not allow trivial matters to hinder his efforts to achieving food self-sufficiency.
"Our nation will be respected by others by achieving food self-sufficiency," the minister remarked.
He affirmed that besides strengthening the nation's sovereignty, food self-sufficiency is also intended to ensure fulfillment of the food requirements of the entire generation. According to him, agricultural extension is a key element in achieving the nation's dream of food self-sufficiency.
"With good agricultural extension, agricultural businesses will have an effective way to cultivate in order to support the nation's major target of food self-sufficiency," he affirmed.
