REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  YOGYAKARTA -- President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo stated that he would not give clemency for drug convicts who have been sentenced to death. He emphasized that death sentence must be imposed to 64 drug traffickers.

"I give no clemency for such case," Jokowi said on public lecture at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) on Tuesday, December 9.

He is worried to the fact that the number of death due to drugs is increasing from day to day. There are around 40-50 young people who lose their lives.

He also said that the use of narcotics seeped into staff of government. "We have to be careful because thousands tonnes of narcotics have entered Indonesia," he said.
