REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARNEGARA -- Until Sunday, landslide that struck a village in Central Java Friday and buried dozens of homes killed at least 39 people. Police orders 600 members to search other victims in Sampang Village, Banjarnegara, Central Java.
"There are at least 69 people who are still buried in the landside," Deputy of Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Harmensyah, said on Sunday, December 14.
The landslide containing mud, rocks and trees from the mountains buried dozens of homes where 300 people lived. Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) has identified 31 out of 39 dead victims.
Head of Public Relations of BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said people must put their concern in landslide as it became the most serious natural disaster in Indonesia. According to the data, about 248 people died due to landslide in 2014.
"At least 40.9 million people in Indonesia are prone to landslide," he said.
