REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- A fire engulfed Nias district head's office in North Sumatra province on Friday morning.

The fire that broke out at around 7.45 a.m. local time destroyed the office of the general affairs section in the Nias district secretariat, head of the public relations division of the North Sumatra provincial police Adj. Snr. Comsr. Helfi Assegaf said in a short message text.

The police have questioned a number of witnesses, he noted.

To intensify investigation, the police have coordinated with the Medan forensic laboratory to establish the cause of the fire that has inflicted Rp500 million material loss, he revealed.
