REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Two residents were killed in a landslide incident in Bali amid heavy rain that poured the province and other regions in Indonesia on Saturday.
"The landslide occurred at 1.30 pm on Saturday," Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the head of the Infomration Data Center and Public Relations Affairs of the National Disasters Mitigation Agency(BNPB), said here on Sunday.
The landslide which killed two people occurred in the Sangyang Ambu main road, Banjar Dinas Bug Bug Kaler, Karangasem District, Bali.
He said that the landslide hit the brick-built horseblock of the victims' house, causing it to collapse.
Thus, two residents were killed as they were struck down by the collapsing brick-made parapet and two others were injured.
The dead victims were Dwi Ulandari, aged 8, and Ni Wayan Klemun, aged 60.
"The people are called on to remain vigilant. The rain will continue until February 2015," said Sutopo.
