REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has once again summoned former religious affairs minister Suryadharma Ali (SDA) for questioning here on Tuesday for the alleged misuse of funds earmarked for the Haj pilgrimage.
"He has been scheduled for questioning as a graft suspect," the KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha informed journalists.
Suryadharma Ali, who was accused by the anti-graft agency of rigging the 2012-2013 Haj program, worth Rp1 trillion, declined to comply with the KPK's summons on February 4, arguing that the letter from the anti-graft body had a typographical error.
The suspect's lawyer, Andreas Nahot Silitonga, said that according to the KPK's previous letter, Suryadharma Ali was summoned to be "questioned as a witness," but then there was an explanation that "Suryadharma Ali would be questioned for the act of crime that he had done as a suspect."
