REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo chaired a coordination meeting again to discuss preparations being made to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) and the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP).

"There are only some six to eight weeks left. These few weeks will be busy, but I am sure all planning has been coordinated well," the head of state said during the meeting held at Bogor Palace on Tuesday.

Among those in attendance at the meeting were Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister A. M. Fachir, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Chief of the Presidential Staff Luhut Panjaitan, and Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto.

Some 109 world leaders and representatives of 25 international organizations are expected to attend the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the AAC and the 10th anniversary of the NAASP. Events to mark the occasions will be held in Jakarta from April 19 to 23 and in Bandung on April 24.

"'Strengthening Cooperation' is the theme of this special commemoration," Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L. P. Marsudi had told the press after attending a coordination meeting on the upcoming event at the presidential palace on January 9.

Indonesia will invite 109 heads of states and representatives of 25 international organizations, as well as the Secretary General of the United Nations, to the celebrations.

To commemorate the AAC, the Indonesian government will organize a series of events, which will begin with a meeting of senior officials and a ministerial-level meeting in Jakarta from April 19 to 21.

Following the two meetings, the Asia-Africa Summit will be held on April 22 and 23 in Jakarta.

The final leg of the celebrations will be organized in Bandung on April 24, which will bring together leaders from the Asian and African continents.

During the event commemorating the AAC in Bandung on April 24, Asian and African leaders will participate in a historical walk, similar to what their predecessors did in 1955.
