REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) chaired a limited cabinet meeting at his office here on Wednesday (11/3) to discuss a plan for the elimination of credit given by the central government to the regional governments.
"We hold this limited meeting to discuss the conditional elimination of Aceh provincial government's debt through 'debt swap'," President Jokowi stated while opening the meeting.
In the meantime, Finance Minister Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro noted that the elimination request has been received through a letter to the president on January 27, 2012.
Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil remarked before the meeting that credit elimination in numerous regions is intended to provide additional budget to the regional governments for the welfare of the community.
