REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The office of the coordinating minister for maritime affairs encourages universities across Indonesia to submit proposals on techno park establishment.
"To universities in Indonesia, please send plans to set up techno parks to relevant ministries. We will support the program," Safri Burhanuddin the minister's deputy in charge of human resources affairs, said, here, Thursday.
The proposals could be submitted to the research, technology and higher education ministry, the agriculture ministry, and the maritime affairs and fisheries ministry, which are handling the establishment of techno parks in accordance with the government's Mid Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2015-2019.
Indonesia's universities could establish cooperation with other universities or institutions, both domestic and abroad, he said.
He noted it would take around two years to decide whether a techno park plan would be implemented or not.
The coordinating minister for maritime affairs is currently concentrating on the development of the first maritime techno park to be constructed in Penajam Paser Utara District, East Kalimantan.
"There will be five maritime techno parks in Indonesia," he added.
In total, the government has targeted to build 100 techno parks in districts and municipalities, and science parks in provinces across Indonesia.
A plan to build techno parks has been included in (RPJMN) 2015-2019 of the President Joko Widodo administration.
