REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A leader of Golkar party that has been split into two in leadership warned that police have no authority to handle dispute in a political party.
"I believe police would return the report as it is an internal affairs of the party. It is the domain of the party's tribunal. It is not a criminal case," Agun Gunandjar Sudarsa of the Agung camp said here on Thursday.
The party that garnered the second largest votes in the last election, has been split into two - one formed in Bali Congress under incumbent Aburizal Bakries and another formed in Ancol Congress under Agung Laksono.
The Aburizal camp reported to police accusing the Ancol congress as illegal for attended by representatives allegedly using false mandate from the regions.
The camp filed the report after losing case in the party's tribunal followed with the government decision to give recognition to Agung camp.
Agun said all facts and testimonies from both sides about the process of national congress in Bali and Ancol have been examined and assessed by the party tribunal.
"And based on all of them the party tribunal had made a decision in line with the party statute," he said.
Agung has declared support for the government of President Joko Widodo and pulled out of the Red and White Coalition . Golkar under Aburizal had been the leader of the coalition , known to be critical of the government.
