REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOKYO -- Visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has invited Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to attend Asian-African Conference (AAC) in Bandung and Jakarta next month.

"I have invited Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for the Asian-African Conference in April 2015," President Jokowi said at a press conference after a bilateral meeting with Abe here on Monday.

The president remarked that from April 19 to 24, Indonesia will host the Asian-African Conference in Bandung and Jakarta respectively.

During his state visit to Japan, Jokowi extended his direct invitation to Prime Minister Abe to attend the conference.

The Government of Indonesia will host the Asia-Africa Conference 2015 to mark the 60th Commemoration of the AAC and the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership in Jakarta and Bandung on April 22-24.

Some 109 Asian and African countries as well as 17 observer countries and 25 international organizations will be invited.

The 1955 Bandung AAC gave birth to Bandung Spirit, which can be summarized as a call for a peaceful coexistence between nations, liberation of the world from the hegemony of any superpower, and building solidarity towards those weakened by the world order.
