REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The national police's counter-terrorism squad, Densus 88, has arrested two suspected terrorists in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, police confirmed here on Monday (13/4).
Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police Command, Brigadier General Agus Rianto, said the two suspects have been identified by their initials as HER, alias DVD, and BUS, alias AT.
The two were believed to have carried out a series of terror activities in Poso, Central Sulawesi province, and Bima in West Nusa Tenggara province.
HER was arrested in Parawanga hamlet in Raba village, Wawo, Bima district, while BUS was nabbed from Bima city.
The two are believed to be members of a radical group, East Mujahidin Indonesia, led by Santoso who is still at large.
HER is also suspected of involving in the bombing incident at Smaker traffic police post in 2013 and taking part in 'military' training along with other members of the Santoso group and in the bombing of Christian security post in front of the Poso market besides playing a role in making bombs in Kalora, Poso.
BUS is also believed to have participated in military training organized by the Santoso group in Poso besides involving in the killing of two Poso police resort members Brigadier Andi Sapa and First Adjunct Inspector Sudirman in Tamanjeka.
Densus 88 is interrogating the two to find out the extent of their involvement in terrorism, Agus added.
