REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that Indonesia has become a major democratic country. In fact, he said, democracy in Indonesia has been envied by neighboring countries. But neighboring countries have not implemented a democratic system like the one in Indonesia.
"Neighboring countries want to imitate, but they are not brave [enough]," he said in Jakarta, on Wednesday night, May 6.
In Indonesia, added the former Mayor of Solo, political parties are built to be a pillar of democracy. Therefore, political parties in Indonesia must be strong internally. Some things you should do in order to become strong political parties are strengthening regeneration system, the recruitment of party cadres, conflict management and financial management of political parties.
"This must be done for the strengthening of political parties," said Jokowi.
Jokowi message was delivered in front of the entire leadership of the political parties. The supporting party The Red and White Coalition (KMP) and the Great Indonesia Coalition (KIH) during the inauguration of the central committee of the National Mandate Party (PAN).
