REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Hundreds of members of the Islamic Students Association (HMI) began a long march to the State Palace to hold a rally to commemorate the reformation on May 20.
"Hundreds of members of the HMI began a long march from RRI to the State Palace," Chairman of the HMI Arief Rosyid Hasan said here on Wednesday.
Earlier, Hasan had affirmed that the HMI will hold a rally in front of Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, to celebrate the reformation movement. He was received by President Joko Widodo to discuss the subject at the State Palace on Monday, May 18.
Hasan had pointed out that the HMI will stage the rally to voice people's aspirations and urge President Joko Widodo to improve the country's economic growth.
"The HMI urged President Joko Widodo to maintain political stability," he added.
The association also called on the president to maintain economic stability, fuel prices and electricity rates.
In addition, the organization demanded that the government prioritize the youth in its human development policy.
"We also appeal to all cadres to participate in the rally today to celebrate the reformation movement," he stated.
