REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- The Central Java High Prosecutor's Office questioned Mayor of Semarang Hendrar Prihadi on Wednesday as a witness in a case of corruption related to the construction of a retention pool in 2014.
"He was questioned as a witness," Head of the Central Java High Prosecutor's Office Hartadi said here on Wednesday.
The mayor of Semarang was questioned as a witness in the case against several suspects, he added.
When asked about the possibility of Prihadi being named as a suspect, Hartadi told everyone to not speculate on the matter.
"Don't speculate on it. He is being questioned as a witness," he remarked.
Prihadi arrived at the High Prosecutor's Office at 8:30 a.m. and was questioned till 4:00 p.m.
Prosecutors named Head of the Semarang City Water and Energy Resources Management Office Nugroho Joko Purwanto as a suspect in the case.
The suspect was a proxy of a budget user for the project in Muktiharjo Kidul, Semarang.
The Rp34.9 billion project was financed by the 2014 city budget.
