REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO -- The Justice and Indonesia Unity Party's (PKPI) general chairman, Sutiyoso, has expressed readiness to give up his post in the party if he is named as the new chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN).
"I will certainly leave the political life. As soon as I am inaugurated I will certainly give up the post," he said after attending the reception of President Joko Widodo's son Gibran Rakabuming Raka's wedding with Selvi Ananda here on Thursday evening.
The former governor of Jakarta said he is ready to take the post of chief of BIN as a mandate from President Joko Widodo.
"God willing," he said.
Sutiyoso said he did not care about criticisms from several quarters about his nomination as a candidate for BIN chief.
"It is common for people to agree or disagree on something. We are positive thinking. We will respond with performance," he said.
President Joko Widodo has recently nominated Sutiyono, who is also the former deputy chief of the army's special force, as candidate for the BIN's chief.
