Margriet's family appoints new legal counsel

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A suspect of children neglect in murder case of Engeline Margriet Megawe, Margriet Christina Megawe had replaced a lawyer to accompany her on the investigation process. Previously Margriet also changed lawyers after Bernadin resigned as legal representation of her.

It was conveyed by attorney M. Ali Sadikin which currently appointed by police to replace Bernadin. Ali said on Tuesday, June 16, at nine in the evening he was no longer acted as Margriet's legal counsel.

"But you need to know, actually on nine o'clock I was no longer a lawyer who accompanied Margriet," he said when contacted by ROL, on Tuesday night, June 16.

He said Margriet's family has sent new legal counsels which were directly imported from Jakarta. As police's representative, Ali finally no longer accompany Engeline's foster mother to escort the next legal proceedings.

There was no other reason which explained by Margriet's family related to appointment of new legal counsel. He was only told of the new legal representative. He said there was no reason that he was incompatible with the client.

"There is no other reason. It is the right of suspects to appoint who is the legal representative. I was just undergoing my duty from the police," he added.

While on his the legal representative before Ali, Bernadin had mentioned incompatibility reasons because he was never interacted directly with Margriet. Ali himself was appointed by police to accompany Margriet just two days ago.
