REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The East Java provincial government will operate more than a thousand ambulances in anticipation of accidents that may occur during the 2015 Idul Fitri or Lebaran holiday mass exodus, an official said.
"The local government will run some 1,033 ambulances in case accidents occur during the Lebaran holiday mass exodus this year," a spokesman for the East Java Health Office, Harsono, stated here on Thursday.
He noted that the ambulances will be deployed at numerous Lebaran integrated posts, community clinics, hospitals, and weighbridge stations along roads through which travelers will pass.
According to the spokesman, the ambulances will be in operation from seven days before to seven days after the Lebaran holiday.
"Health officials will also work 24 hours a day," Harsono affirmed, adding that the activity is part of a regular program to control accidents and reduce the risks of fatalities.
