REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The suspect of Engeline's murder case, Margriet Christina Megawe today will perform her first pretrial hearing at the Denpasar District Court. Public Relation Head of Bali Regional Police AKBP Hery Wiyanto expressed their readiness to undergo the pretrial hearing.
"Yes we are ready to face pretrial, we also have prepared a special team to deal with pretrial of suspect M," said Hery to ROL, on Sunday, July 12.
He added that the team was prepared by the legal field of Bali Regional Police. Hery explained that part of the readiness of the police to deal with pretrial of suspect Margriet.
Related to their readiness, police also seem to be ready with evidence to establish Margriet as a suspect.
"Witness statements, autopsy, and the crime scene and all are in conformity. Those are just enough,"said Hery.
In addition to the evidence, the police have also been convinced by the investigation steps. Hery argued that all the investigation process has been undertaken in accordance with the law, operational procedure standard (SOP), and the Criminal Code Law (UU KUHP).
"Yes, I think pretrial it's usual thing, the rights of a suspect as well if she want to apply for it. But we are optimistic, because to establish the suspect's also only need two items of evidences, "said Hery.
As is known, the suspect Margriet through her legal team filed a pretrial because the determination of suspect against her. She has so far refused to be called as a suspect in the murder of her adopted daughter, Margriet Engeline Megawe.
