REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Tolikara Muslim community conducted a meeting with leaders of the Evangelical Church in Indonesia (GIDI) in The Secretariat of the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) in Papua, Jayapura on Wednesday evening, July 29.

Deputy of Tolikara Muslim community, Imam of Baitul Muttaqin Mosque, Ali Mukhtar met with President of GIDI, Pastor Dorman Wandikbo along with the leadership of the church. The meeting was held within the framework of the peace mediation initiated by the Chairman of FKUB Papua, Pastor Lipiyus Biniluk and Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Papua, Tony Wanggai.

Dorman Wandikbo said GIDI regretted the whole incident in Tolikara. "We are all victims, after this many people of GIDI in some regions was experiencing intimidation," he said. GIDI was ready to make peace onwards.

While, Ali Mukhtar said, decades of living in Papua there was never a religious dispute with any church. "I've known a long time GIDI leader in Tolikara, there were no problems, Papua land of peace," he said.

FKUB chairman of Papua, Pastor Lipiyus Biniluk asked all parties to make peace. "Let's return to the party in Tolikara, this can be solved by indigenous of Papuans."

Nahdlatul Ulama chairman of Papua, Tony Wanggai requested that the entire deal could be put in writing and distributed to the public. This should be done so that the general public knows.

By midnight, they all form Eleven Team, consisting of Representatives of Tolikara GIDI, Tolikara Muslims and interfaith leaders. They formulated a more substantive peace manuscript and long-lived so that similar incidents did not happen again in the Land of Papua.
