REPUBLIKA.CO. JAKARTA -- President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo attended the inauguration of fishermen's banking services launched by state lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), at Kali Adem Port in Pluit, North Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The services are expected to serve the needs of fishermen, Director of BRI Asmawi Syam said.
"The facilities are intended for coastal communities and fishermen in dire need of banking services," he added.
With these, fishermen will not have to leave their boats or businesses to access banking services, Syam affirmed.
Each ship terrace outlet has two tellers---one cashier and one customer service officer. The outlet is also equipped with an EDC machine.
Also present at the opening ceremony were State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardojo, Vice Governor of Jakarta Djarot Syaiful Hidayat, and Chief of the Financial Services Authority Mulaiaman Hadad.
