REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -- Chairman of Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR), Heri Gunawan, reminded the government to be aware of the act of beef mafia. The mafia accused of causing the highest increase in the price of beef in the last three decades.

"Restrictions on imports by the government can make the beef mafia and exporters alarmed. They will lose trillions of dollars due to the restrictions. The Ministry of Trade who has authority in stabilizing the prices," said Heri, Monday (10/8).

According to him, the calculation is quite simple. If the price of an Australia cow is Rp 10 million, then the exporters will lose potential turnover of 270 thousand cow, minus 50 thousand cows, multiplied by Rp 10 million, around Rp 2.2 trillion each quarter.

So every year, the mafia will lose a turnover of Rp 8.8 trillion. He said, that is not surprising that the loss of turnover makes the beef mafia upset.

"The beef mafia was trying to play with the beef price until it reaches the highest price. The Ministry of Trade and Bulog should do the intervention immediately," he added.
