REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has sworn in six new ministers in the first cabinet shakeup since he was inaugurated as the country's seventh president in October 2014.
The president at the State Palace here Wednesday installed Darmin Nasution as coordinating minister for economic affairs, replacing Sofyan Djalil.
Sofyan Djalil was sworn in as new minister of national development planning.
The head of state also installed Rizal Ramli as coordinating minister for maritime affairs, Thomas Lembong as trade minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, and Pramono Anung as cabinet secretary.
Jokowi removed former trade minister Rachmat Gobel, former coordinating minister for maritime affairs Indroyono Susilo, former coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, former cabinet secretary Andi Widjajanto, and former national development planning minister Andrinof Chaniago, from his cabinet lineup.
Before swearing in the new ministers, President Jokowi installed Rano Karno as new governor of Banten Province.
Among those present in the swearing in ceremony were former president Megawati Soekarnoputri and Vice President M Jusuf Kalla.
