REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK –- Prosecutor team of the High Court of West Kalimantan handed over 15 illegal ships of fish thieves to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to be drowned. The handover was done at the Coastal Fishing Port in Rengas River, Pontianak, Tuesday (18/8).

The prosecution team led by Assistant Attorney General of Criminal High Court of West Kalimantan, Willy Ade Chaidir, handed 15 illegal ships to the Directorate of Resources team of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

Willy said the 15 illegal ships are ready to be destroyed and has had permanent legal force. 3 of the 15 ships had been drowned, three of them were sinking due to technical problems and two of them were foundered while pulled.

Director General of Marine Resources and Fisheries, Asep Burhanudin, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has eradication program of illegal fishing ships. The Ministry also has notified to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about this program because most of the ships to be sunk come from other countries.

He said, 38 ships will be sunk simultaneously in several regions in Indonesia including 15 vessels in West Kalimantan.
