REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- The black box of Trigana Air airplane with flight number IL-257 Jayapura-Oksibil, was found, Tuesday (18/8). The airplane was lost contact since Sunday (16/8) afternoon.

“At 13:40 LT (local time), the Trigana Air’s black box had been found,” said the Head of Public Communication, Ministri of Transportation, JA Barata, Tuesday (18/8).

The black box is being evacuated by the rescue team to be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

The head of National SAR Agency (Basarnas), Vice Marshal FH Bambang Soelistyo, said that the aircraft was found in Bintang Mountains, at 04 degrees 49 minutes 289 seconds south direction and 140 degrees, 29 minutes, 953 seconds East direction. The location from the Oksibil airports are seven Nautical Mile.

“The coordinates were 100 percent true,” he said.

Bambang said that there were two officers who have been reached the target point by Airfast helicopter. Two members of TNI has also reached the location at 05:00 LT.

“Cooling equipment is very needed (for evacuation),” he added.
